Sigma Kappa Alzheimer’s
Research Fellowship
$200,000
Awarded
Sigma Kappa Foundation, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s
Association, is investing $200,000 annually over five years to
establish the Sigma Kappa Alzheimer’s Research Fellowship. This
fellowship will provide critical funding and recognition for
promising early-career researchers working to better understand,
prevent and treat Alzheimer’s disease. Each year, one exceptional
investigator will be selected as the Sigma Kappa Alzheimer’s
Research Fellow, creating a lasting connection between Sigma
Kappa’s philanthropic mission and the future of Alzheimer’s
research. The inaugural recipient is Justina F. Avila-Rieger, Ph.D.,
of Columbia University.
With this commitment and early 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's
fundraising, Sigma Kappas will have contributed more than $20
million in total support for Alzheimer’s disease research and
initiatives since adopting Alzheimer’s as its philanthropic focus
in 1984!
